Our firm was founded in 2015 by Me Jean-Raymond Paradis and Me Hugo Legault Bélanger, both of whom have been practicing civil litigation and construction law since the beginning of their respective careers.

Since 2006, Jean-Raymond has been practicing exclusively in construction law in private practice. His work allows him to advise and represent clients before the courts, including general and specialized contractors, project owners, individuals, and administrators of warranty plans. His experience in construction law led him to serve as the Director of the Legal Department at Qualité Habitation from 2013 to 2015.
He also acts as a speaker on various topics related to construction law, such as obligations under the Civil Code, suretyships, costs for delays, contractor liability, interpretation of CCDC contracts, regulations on warranty plans for developers and general contractors, as well as the legal training required to obtain a contractor’s license from the RBQ for members of regional ACQs.
His pragmatic approach and ability to make legal concepts accessible to his clients enable him to build strong relationships of trust.

Since the beginning of his career, Hugo has practiced exclusively in construction law, real estate law, and civil and commercial litigation. As an accredited civil and commercial mediator, he is recognized for his negotiation skills and ability to simplify complex information for his clients, including general and specialized contractors, real estate developers, and private lenders.
He is also an accredited trainer with the Quebec Construction Association (ACQ), delivering courses to help individuals obtain general and/or specialized contractor licenses from the Régie du Bâtiment du Québec (RBQ), as well as various construction-related training programs.
In collaboration with the RBQ, he has contributed to updating the licensing exams.
Hugo also serves as a speaker on various construction law topics, presenting to regional and provincial ACQ chapters and his clients.

A lawyer at our Montreal office, Pierre practices civil litigation and has over 38 years of experience and expertise in construction law. Throughout these years, he has represented and advised subcontractors and general contractors on legal construction hypothecs, suretyships, and claims for additional work.

Mathieu joined the BPA team in 2019 after completing his articling there.
He practices civil litigation, primarily in construction law. Having worked in the construction industry for several years before pursuing his legal studies, his interest in this field developed naturally.
Mathieu advises and represents various industry stakeholders, including developers, contractors, and material suppliers.
In this capacity, he regularly pleads before Quebec’s civil courts, both at the trial and appellate levels. He also represents clients before administrative and arbitration tribunals.
Alongside his practice, Mathieu serves as a trainer for future entrepreneurs seeking to obtain a license issued by the Régie du bâtiment du Québec.

Mathieu is the proud father of a little girl. Despite the great importance he attaches to his professional life, his family is his greatest pride and the precious moments he spends with them allow him to recharge his batteries.




Sara joined the BPA team in 2021. Since 2023, she has also been teaching RBQ licensing courses for the Quebec Construction Association. She primarily practices in civil and commercial litigation as well as construction law.
Sara handles cases involving servitudes, encroachments, and acquisitive prescription to regularize property titles according to her clients' needs. She assists contractors, subcontractors, and individuals with debt recovery, legal construction hypothecs, latent defects, construction defects, and poor workmanship, always acting in her clients' best interests.
As part of her practice, she represents clients before administrative and civil courts.
Sara is known for her negotiation skills, diligence, attentiveness, and tenacity. She frequently resolves cases through out-of-court settlements while effectively leveraging her combative approach to serve her clients.

A lover of the arts, political news and gastronomy, Sara is also interested in the stock market and real estate. She collects Scotch tape, and enjoys cycling and hiking.




A member of the Bar since 2019, Rafik practices as a lawyer in civil and commercial litigation, specializing in construction and real estate law. He began practicing independently before joining the BPA team in 2021.
As part of his practice, Rafik represents clients before several civil courts, including the Quebec Court of Appeal, as well as before arbitral tribunals.
Outside of his practice, Rafik is very involved in his community and has served on several boards of directors for political parties, businesses, and non-profit organizations.
He currently serves as a board member of the Montreal Association of Commercial Development Companies (ASDCM).

Having previously practiced within the litigation department of the administrator of the warranty plan for new residential buildings, Éric has notably handled numerous arbitration processes and cases before civil courts, as well as managing disputes related to performance suretyships in the construction industry.
Previously, he also worked in private practice and for an insurance litigation department.
Éric represents and advises his clients in cases that may be presented before all judicial instances related to real estate and construction law, with an approach focused on his clients' interests and proportionality.

Eric is always looking for an opportunity to broaden his horizons by traveling off the beaten path to the four corners of the world.




Nancy primarily practices in construction law, civil litigation, and business law. Having worked for 10 years with various administrators of the new home warranty plan, she developed expertise in construction law. During these years, Nancy collaborated with numerous building professionals and experts on cases involving various latent defects and/or construction defects.
She also has extensive experience in commercial law and corporate law. She will guide you in the incorporation, organization, and reorganization of your business. She has also been involved in several business sale and share transfer cases.
She has advised and represented multiple clients both before civil courts and in alternative dispute resolution processes such as arbitration.
Nancy advocates for finding practical and effective solutions to the issues her clients entrust to her, fostering collaboration with her clients throughout the process.

Patrick joined the Bélanger Paradis team as an articling intern in April 2024 and later as a lawyer. Before embarking on his legal career, Patrick studied business administration at Concordia University, where he developed a curiosity and interest in the legal field.
A lawyer at the Boucherville office, Patrick primarily focuses his practice on construction law, real estate law, and commercial litigation. He advises individuals, SMEs, and large companies, with a particular interest in contracts and legal drafting. As part of his practice, Patrick also participates in the preparation of litigation cases and represents clients before civil courts.

A great foodie, Patrick loves to cook in his free time and is always looking for new dishes when he travels. A sports fan, he also practices various outdoor activities, such as biking and skiing.




Isabelle is responsible for managing the administrative and financial activities of the firm.
She ensures regulatory compliance and oversees the management of contracts with suppliers as well as the firm’s accounting.




Stéphanie is responsible for the general management of the firm, human resources, as well as the coordination of debt collection and internal processes.
She is in charge of implementing best management practices and continuously improving processes to ensure the quality of legal services provided to clients.
Passionate about discovering new horizons, Stéphanie loves to travel and explore the world through flavors and cultures. Golf is also a sport that allows him to get away from everyday life.




Josée works in collaboration with Me Pierre Viau and Me Rafik Bentabbel.
She works at the Montreal office.
Josée is always looking for a calm and serene waterway to launch her paddle board and enjoy these little moments of happiness.

A lover of animals and passionate about the outdoors, Lydia takes advantage of her free time to combine these two passions and go on long hikes with her dogs.
